Rhapsody of Realities for 7 May 2026 — Grace and Righteousness | Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

TODAY'S RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DEVOTIONAL BY PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME.

TOPIC: The Right Foundation for Faith

SCRIPTURE: "For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7)."

Do you want to live the Christian life according to the Bible? Then you’ve got to know and follow the Word for yourself and live by it, not your feelings. Feelings and personal experiences are not the basis for faith. God never designed us to rely on experiences. Our faith is founded on His Word.

People often describe different sensations they “feel” when the power of God is manifested. Some say they felt something cold, others say they felt something hot. Some say they were shaking, and others say they became stiff and couldn’t move. These are personal experiences peculiar to different individuals.

Therefore, it’s not right for anyone to make a doctrine out of their personal experience. The Bible never says you must feel anything when the power of God is working in you, on you, or through you. The Word doesn’t base divine realities on sensations. They’re activated by faith. No matter the feeling you may have, focus on the Word, on the result, that God’s grace has met your need.

A beautiful example is the woman with the issue of blood. The Bible records that the moment she touched the hem of the Master’s garment, “…straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague” (Mark 5:29).

Notice that her testimony of the feeling was that she was healed. That is the kind of testimony that matters; the best report is to know and testify that you are healed. That’s the Word’s report and provides the right foundation for faith. Faith is the expectation of the fulfilment of God’s Word and acting accordingly, and you’ll enjoy the results that the Word guarantees.

Today’s devotional reminds us that faith is anchored on God’s Word, not on physical sensations or emotional experiences. While people may feel different things during moments of spiritual activity, those feelings are not the foundation of what God is doing. The true evidence of faith is the fulfilment of His Word, not the presence or absence of a feeling. When we choose to trust what God has said above what we feel or see, we build a stable spiritual life that cannot be shaken by circumstances. Like the woman with the issue of blood, our focus should be on the result of God’s promise—knowing and declaring that His Word has accomplished what it says, because that is the true basis of victorious faith.

PRAYER/CONFESSION

Dear Father, thank you for your Word that guides my life and establishes my faith. My confidence is anchored in your truth, and I walk in the reality of your Word today. My faith is strong, my spirit is confident, and my life produces faith-based results because I live by your Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
