Eight (8) Things Holding You Back + Powerful Bible Verses To Help You Break Free || Read For Free

God has called you to do great things for the Kingdom, so what's holding you back?

Here are 8 things you need to overcome in order to follow God's will for your life, along with scriptures to help you do just that!

1. Unforgiveness. Not only does unforgiveness make you bitter, but it also damages your relationship with God. A grudge prevents your prayers from being answered. Mark 11:25 (NIV) says, "And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."

2. Impatience.
Things may not be progressing as quickly as you would like for them to, but if you get ahead of God's timing, you'll mess up. So be patient and trust the Lord. As Peter 3:9 (NIV) says, "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness..." Finally, I leave you with Habakkuk 2:3 (ESV), "For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay."

3. Procrastination.
Now, if you have the go-ahead from God, don't put off your destiny while claiming you're just "waiting for the right time." Life is too short for "later." Psalms 119:60 (NLT) says, "I will hurry, without delay, to obey your commands."

4. Laziness.
Wonder why God isn't answering your prayers to pay the bills, put food on the table, or let your business flourish? What have you done? It's great to have faith, but at the same time, you've got to put some work in as well! Proverbs 14:23 reads, "All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty."

5. Fear.
Don't put your God-given goals on the back burner because you're afraid to fail and afraid to go outside your comfort zone. When you feel fearful, go to Psalms 56:3 (NIV), which says, "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you."

6. Self-doubt.
If God has chosen you for a certain task, don't fret about whether you're ready, or if you'll be good enough. Just go for it. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) tells us to, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

7. Double-mindedness.
You can't teeter between righteousness and worldliness and expect God to use you. You must be sure of your faith, because you can't serve two masters (Matthews 6:24-Luke 16:13.) James 4:4 (NLT) reads, "You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God."

8. Constant Sin.
It is true that we all fall every now and again, but the grace of God is there to save us. However, we can't be habitual sinners and use grace, and mercy as an excuse to act out of line with what the Word tells us is right. If you want to be blessed, obey God. Romans 6:15 (NLT) says, "Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not!"

You can achieve all God has placed you on earth to do, but if any of the things listed here have been holding you back, it's time to get it right. I pray that these scriptures help guide you towards the goals God has set for you and strengthen you on your walk with Him.
